Bilingual Anxiety Psychologist in Katy, TX
Hello and welcome. I’m Dr. Lourdes Valdés, a licensed psychologist serving children, adolescents, adults, and families in Katy and the surrounding communities.
Many of the people and families who find their way here are navigating anxiety, ADHD, giftedness, or the complexities of being twice-exceptional. For children and adolescents, anxiety may appear as excessive worry, perfectionism, avoidance, or emotional overwhelm. Others are dealing with social challenges, family stress, or major life transitions. My approach combines warmth, curiosity, and evidence-based treatment — with a focus on meaningful, lasting change.
I offer care in both English and Spanish, serving families in Katy, Cinco Ranch, Fulshear, Cypress, and the greater West Houston area.
Families often come to my practice when:
- A child or teen is struggling with anxiety, worries, perfectionism, or emotional overwhelm.
- A gifted or twice-exceptional student is experiencing anxiety, stress, social difficulties, or uneven development.
- Attention, executive functioning, or social challenges are creating difficulties at home or school.
- Parents are seeking thoughtful guidance grounded in science and compassion.
- Family stress or major life transitions are creating challenges at home.
- An adult is looking for practical tools to navigate anxiety, stress, or life transitions.
Areas of Focus
My practice combines evidence-based therapy with several specialized programs designed to support children, teens, adults, and families. Anxiety is a central focus of my practice, while my other areas of specialization allow me to consider the individual and family as a whole.
✦ Core Specialty: Anxiety and Resilience
Anxiety can feel overwhelming, but it is highly treatable. I specialize in treating anxiety in children, adolescents, and adults using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based approaches. Together, we can identify anxious thought patterns, build concrete coping strategies, and gradually face fears so that anxiety becomes less limiting.
For children and adolescents, treatment may also involve helping parents understand anxiety and respond in ways that support confidence, independence, and resilience.
